Fifth Annual Sunset Park Health Empowerment Celebration

The Academy of Medical & Public Health Services, a community health non-profit, will be holding its Fifth Annual Sunset Park Health Empowerment Celebration on Saturday, August 24th, 11am-3pm, in Sunset Park at the 44th Street and 6th Avenue entrance.

The event is free of charge and open to all. It will feature yoga, musical performances, and dance numbers; health and nutrition information; free food and smoothie samples; free flu shots and measles vaccines; free physical therapy counseling and blood pressure screenings; a self-defense workshop; raffle prizes; and giveaways. Participants will be able to receive resources on matters of health insurance, nutrition, hospital services, mental health, job training and employment, workers rights, and the 2020 Census. Additionally, AMPHS will host a Registration Drive for its free English classes at the AMPHS table, where interested students can apply and schedule a placement exam for the free classes starting in September, ranging from Beginner to Advanced levels. The first 500 participants will receive a gift bag that includes a copy of the 2020 AMPHS Immigrant Resources Directory, featuring social services and health resources in the local community.
